Mugu, have you ever seen a marathon runner in the gym lifting weights to build his strength?

Or a weight lifter running miles to improve his stamina?

Different sports require different components of fitness.

A players stamina defines a players fitness in football. End of.

Im done arguing nonsense with you. Someone who cant even admit that a player a who covers 1km per game more than  player b is fitter than player b is not worth my time.

Ibime

i have already given you "my" definition of fitness. It's a combination of physical attributes such as stamina, strength, balance, agility, jumping. Let me score them off the top of my head on a scale of 1-10.

Lampard:

stamina - 9

strength - 5

balance - 6

agility - 4

jumping - 3

Gerrard:

stamina - 9

strength - 7

balance - 7

agility - 6

jumping - 5

Essien:

stamina - 9

strength - 9

balance - 8

agility - 7

jumping - 7

Essien:40

Gerrard:34

Lampard:27

and u are there typing rubbish. . . u put the DUN in DUNCE!

Lampard doesnt hold shyte for England, Barry does. Because he's done it a few times you are telling me he "holds for gerrard since xxxx", u are a disgrace! At least u agree gerrard used to hold for lampard pre Barry.

IS MASCHERANO A HOLDING MIDFIELDER?!

It is a different league with a different style of play and played against different opponents. In Spain for example, they have more passes, run less kilometres and convert less set pieces. Also, they do not fulfill the same role, unlike Lamps and Gerrard.

If we do judge them, we would judge them within constraints, but the judgement would be more qualitative than quantitative.

Iniesta's passing stats are infinitely better than Lamps because Barca take more touches than Chelsea. Have you checked Iniestas successful dribbles stats in comparison to Lampard?

If I say Lamps is a better scorer than Iniesta, am I wrong?

Stats tell me Iniesta is a better passer and better dribbler. Lampard is a better scorer. . . . .now I can make a judgement on who is better overall and say Iniesta is better overall.

In Lamps/Gerrard case, stats tell me Lamps is a better passer, assister, scorer, tackler, runner. . . .they play in the same league, and in the same role. . . .and last season at least, Liverpool performed better than Chelsea, so the team they play for doesnt come into it.

So which single variable should I use to conclude that Gerrard is better than Lamps?

Km covered per game. Na Lampard get am

Goals scored. Na Lampard

Passes made. Na Lampard

% successful passes. Na Lampard

Tackles made. Na Lampard

Blocks made. Na Lampard

Assists made. Na Lampard

Key passes made. Na Lampard

% successful crosses. Na Lampard

Corners won. Na Lampard

Freekicks won. Na Lampard

Please give me just one statistic to put Gerrard ahead of him.

Or you want me to rely on two wonder strikes against West Ham (against a body of contrary evidence) to conclude that Gerrard is better than Lamps?

MUGU!

How do you define fitness?

Give me YOUR definition, and I will use it to prove that Lamps is fitter than Gerrard and Essien.

Mugu, the only time Gerrard has ever held for Lampard was in 2003-2005.

Since then, Gerrard has played right-wing, left-wing, and second striker. . . . all with the LICENCE to go forward.

Since 2008, Gerrard has all freedom to go forward from his left wing position, whilst Lamps and Barry have to hold for him.

What is the reason for Gerrards poorer return?

Like I told you, go and check Gerrards goals for England. . . . plenty plenty goals against Andorra and Trinidad and Tobacco. . . . Gerrard has never scored against a big team in his life except in the 5-1 trashings of Germany and Croatia.

My verdict

both players are overrated, the english media will easily have you believe they are the best midfielders in the world

but truth be told, Gerrard is a better player than lampard, despite his positional indiscipline in the midfield, he is more influential

for his club, it is not a coincidence that liverpool play so badly and struggle to even draw a game in Gerrard's absence.

while Lampard is very consistent and more disciplined, he pales in comparison to Gerrard in other areas, it is important to acknowledge

the misleading nature of stats, it doesn't tell the whole story like Ritchie said stats will tell you Lamps is better than Iniesta and it's interesting how

you (ibime and sauron) have chosen to ignore the bolded statement. I'm not saying stats is completely useless, ofcourse it can provide answers to some

questions but in this context it has to be dismissed.

we all have eyes and can see each players influence and contribution to their respective clubs

If Capello has balls, he must exempt Gerrard from the central midfield roles cos he will kill England's dreams again in South Africa.

There is ONLY one reason Liverpool haven't been able to win the Premier League for 20 years: Steven Gerrard!!!

u are a sodding ignoramus. Why single out strength? If u dont even know what it means for a person to be FIT, you should tender a written apology to ur old man for wasting his hard earned money sending u to school.

You must be a nincompoop if you think Essien is fitter than Lampard. . . .is it because you see Essien running at full speed that you think he has more stamina?

Mourinho said that analysis shows that, on average, Lampard runs 13 kilometres (eight miles) a match. "If you multiply that by 114 matches it's a big engine and a special car,"

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/lampard-approaches-record-546703.html

Last month Lampard broke the Premier League record for successive appearances and has now played 161 on the trot, never missing since Oct. 13 2001. It is a remarkable record, snatched from goalkeeper David James, for a midfielder and especially a classic box-to-box player who, Mourinho says, runs more kilometres per game than any of his players.

http://ia.rediff.com/cms/print.jsp?docpath=/sports/2005/dec/16lamp.htm

Why do you think Lamps is the only midfielder in the box when shite goes down?

Go and check Essiens running stats. . . . I've checked em before. . . Essien is a 12km a game man. . . .surprise, surprise, Ballack covers 12.5km. . . . more than Essien.

I have checked Gerrards stats before and Gerrard is also a 12km man like Essien.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/article722711.ece

You see. . . . it is only lightweights like yourself that see a player running at fullspeed (Gerrard, Essien) and automatically assume that he is fitter than a slower player (Lampard).

Educate yourself!

None of your arguments on this thread have been based in fact.

Lamps has never been dropped for Gerrard, despite Gerrards unending media campaign for the no 8 shirt.

Only once possibly could he have been benched. . . against Andorra. . . . they said he had an injured hand, but I believe it was to take him out of the firing line cos England fans had been worked up into such a hateful frenzy, they started booing Lamps claiming he was holding Gerrard back.

Gerrard soon got his chance to claim the no8 shirt when Lamps was injured against Russia. . . . and he disgraced himself. . . . giving the ball away umpteen times, unable to keep possession, and ensuring that England could not cross the halfway line. . . . in effect, that loss against Russia knocked England out of Euro 2008 qualifying.

Adios!

They are central midfielders.

The only true HOLDING MIDFIELDER(who never ventures forward to support the attack) is Claude Makelele.

When you hold, you don't leave that position in any event. AM/LAM/RAM are fantasy pigments of FOOTBALL MANAGER.

Lampard is FITTER than Essien.

Having a bulky physical look does not make you FIT.

An outfield player that rarely misses games, posting 100% appearance for 3 straight seasons is a FIT player.

Alright boyz. . . . enough yap for now. . .

Hopefully what romantics like Ritchboy can take away from this thread is a rethink on what they thought to be the black and white truth as portrayed by public sentiment and public emotion. . . .

Those who study the game for 90 minutes should be able to observe that Lamps contribution in midfield is immense. . . . whilst those who watch highlights see the bursting runs of Gerrard and get a skewed sense of his comparative influence. . . .

This discussion should help tactical lightweights like Ritchboy think twice about what they think constitutes a good midfielder. . . .

Those of us with tactical nous already know that Gerrard is incomparable to Lamps.

And of course, it goes without saying that Lampard has always won their battle for the No 8 shirt for England. . . . for 7 years straight. . . despite Gerrards protestations that the no 8 shirt is do or die for him, he has NEVER been able to wrestle it away from Lampard.

Good discussion.

Oh. . . . so the writer is biased despite the fact he picked Gerrard.

It comes back to the same old argument. . . . Gerrard is only better at Lampard at:

(1.) Shooting. . . . . so what, if he scores less goals?

(2.) Heading. . . . . so what, if he scores less goals?

(3.) Set-pieces. . . . . so what, if he scores less goals?

(4.) Pace. . . . . so what, if he scores less goals and makes less chances?

(5.) Longe range passing. . . . . so what, if he makes less assists?

@ Dyabman,

How is this article different to what Ibime and I have been telling Gerrard fans?

The article stated all what we have been saying since day one.

Gerrard appears to be effective with those hit n miss Hollywood passes and it stays in one's memory whereas Lampard keeps his game simple and delivers the killer ball with so much simplicity and accuracy that observers would hardly notice.

I have seen enough of the 2 midfielders and to be frank. . . . . .Lampard is the better midfielder.

Gerrard

Liverpool's captain doesn't just score plenty of goals, his back catalogue is crammed with spectacular sizzlers, the sort that raise the roof and carry the crowd along on a wave of emotion. Not only that, he's always had the knack of rising to the occasion, demonstrated recently by strikes in back-to-back Merseyside derbies.

That's partly why Gerrard is worshipped at Anfield. The fans know their No 8 invariably delivers on cue, thanks to a famous flair for seizing the moment. More so than Lampard, this swashbuckling character relies on his instincts, especially when a tight game cries out for inspiration.

As a result, he probably takes more risks than his counterpart in possession, which inevitably leads to the odd ball going astray. But Gerrard has tempered his ambition over the years, those hit-and-miss 'Hollywood' passes attempted much less. Also with age comes better judgment in the tackle. He rarely gets lured into taking drastic action. Red mist and late lunges seem a thing of the past in someone well aware of his on-field responsibilities.

That growing maturity, what's more, has made the 28 year-old more responsive to playing somewhere other than in his favoured central position, even though that doesn't happen much with Liverpool these days. Rafa Benitez either plays him in the middle or as a second striker.

He can do both brilliantly, too, aided by a prodigious capacity for running that has just about reached its peak. If Liverpool blow it this year, it will have nothing to do with their dynamic captain.

Lampard

In contrast to Gerrard, it is easy at times to miss the contributions of this highly motivated individual such is the wonderful simplicity of his passing game. One or two touches, he rarely takes more when that middle ground becomes unbearably congested.

There is no-one better at it either; no-one more skilled in the art of the quick-fire pass under pressure, having expertly worked out distances and angles before the ball arrives at his feet.

Those calculations often result in a diagonal first-time pass over the top where, in the good times, Didier Drogba could be seen racing away. If that's not on, Lampard will choose something a little more conservative, if equally impressive in terms of peripheral vision and ability to spot the right pass in the blink of an eye.

From a positional point of view, he is probably more disciplined than Gerrard, more suited to following a rigid game plan. Never was this firm grasp of tactics better showcased than during England's 4-1 win in Croatia last September when Lampard sat deep to provide defensive cover – a performance all the more worthy given his natural game.

Arriving in the box with exquisite timing and hitting the target with a snap shot – now that's more his style. Nobody in the world, I think, has done it for so long at the top level with quite so much success.

An unquenchable thirst for practice undoubtedly helps. There aren't many footballers who can honestly say they've done everything humanly possible to reach their full potential. Lampard can. The ultimate pro, he's a credit to the game.

Conclusion

The statistics speak loud and clear. Over the last eight years, Lampard has scored more goals than Gerrard and contributed more assists in a Chelsea side winning two Premier League titles. Difficult to argue against such stunning figures.

Gerrard, on the other hand, leans more towards romance, as close as they come to Roy of the Rovers, more impulse than efficiency as a one-man driving force. Two years younger, he's probably a bit fitter as well. That's why, if pushed, I would have him just ahead on points in a straight comparison.

Check out how to play free kicks. . . not all that rubbish from Lamps you are showing me.

Check out the technique of one of the goals inside the box. That's mad. Honestly.

Check out this crazy compilation of insane technique

Only a few know how to kick this way. . . Lamps will need to fast for 100 days and 100 nights to play a free kick like this.

And even when he doesn't score them. . The ability is clearly there. .

Rain curses all you like . . It does nothing to boost your emptiness. I didn't pull a video of top ten goals. If you didn't understand, I was showing technique with the left foot at 3.04. . . Except you never played football, If a baller can hit a ball on the volley like that time after time with the left foot, the chances of him passing with the left foot is more than average. It takes massive techinque to 1, keep an eye on the ball. 2, hit the ball as it touches your foot and then hit so low and with precise direction and I repeat. . . TIME AFTER AFTER.

You must be silly for saying Steve can't use his left foot. . . Outright stu.pid.

Let's set this straight . . . If it came out as Lamps CANNOT shoot with his left foot, then I take that back. The point is not that Lamps cannot shoot with his left, He just about can but that's it. Gerrard takes shots on the volley with his left. That technique is a mile off.

He is not in the class of those who can just about do it.

Secondly Steve's headers are blazing. He heads the ball like a footballer should. Lamps even celebrates a header in the video like Makalele celebrated when he finally got a goal. . Why? Becos he himself knows he doesn't head.

Can Gerrard pass with his left foot . . absolutely YES!. . . You disdain for the fella never allows watch him. This is damn right not objective.

Michael Carrick shi.ts on Lamps passing anyday. . . Do you see the figures showing how many passes he made.

I also showed stats showing Mikel's completed passes . . Where's your comment on that. . . ? Abi the stats done fail again?

We bloody damn well know where Mikel passes the ball to. That's a justification?

I don't hate Lamps. . . I love Lamps. I love him to death, Lamps is a phucking legend, . . but I don't call him what he is not.

You were on the thread the other saying those who will not benefit from Carllotti diamond. . and you mentioned Lampard as no 1.

Why? Because Lamps is a one-dimensional player. Left of a 4-3-3 ad that's it.

If truly he possesses all the techniques you claim he does, why can't he fit in. 4-4-2 is Zilch, Diamond, he will pafuka. Technique is supposed to lift you up and above tactical challenges. Why happened to the technique suddenly. ?

You were blabbing on the thread a few weeks ago how Carllotti was ruining Lamps. . . Na Carllotti dey ruin Lamps abi na Lamps no fit adjust. . ?

Lamps is the main reason Chelsea play boring football. I simply want footballer who can play football. . . not paying 130,000 a week to an overrated midfielder.

I phucking do not need stats to tell me who is better . . .

Nucca STFU. . . . I will not hesitate to rain curses on you when you think like an slowpoke. . . . trust me, its not personal!

The best you can do is go and pull up Gerrards top ten goals. . . . if I pull up Lamps top goals, trust you would see greater variety than just longe range shots. . . . . Bayern Munich, Barcelona etc. . . .

No one is disputing that Gerrard has technique of half volleys. . . . what we're doubting is his touch-tight technique and short-range passing technique. . . . . as I've said Gerrard is possibly the best long range shooter in the world since Rivaldo. . . .but thats it!. . . . however, claiming that Lamps cant shoot with left foot is darn silly of you. . . you've always hated Lamps cos you feel he is not a ninny playmaker that you desire. . . .

Go to any youtube clip and you will see left foot shot after left shot. . . . perhaps you forgot the brilliant left foot chip against Hull last season for example. . . . the volley over the head against Bayern Munich with his left foot etc. . . .

You havent answered one question. . . . can Gerrard pass with his left foot. . . . capital NO!

You've said Lamps cant head, cant shoot with left foot, others say Lamps assists come from set-pieces. . . . you are such a dimwitted mugu. . . .

Lemme show you just one video from only ONE season. . . . Lampard assists, passes, goals. . . . from 2008/2009 alone. . . .you will see headers, left-footers, right-footers, pinpoint passes, trivellas, paellas etc. . . . .  then come back to talk shite. . . . the technique of passes and assists shown in this video is something Gerrard can only dream of. . . . and this is from one season only!

[flash=425,344]

Surprise me with anything from Gerrard other than long range volleys, longe range passes and burst of pace. . . . show me some variety mehn!!!

I have been reading this all along and decided to find the right time to enter. . . You are an even bigger fool by telling me of one particular time in history where a player scored a goal with his left foot. . . and then using that as a yardstick for understanding that Lamps is prolific with his left foot. Are you shitting from your nose?

This is getting clearly emotional. Nothing more. . .You will go to any lengths to back your empty theories up.

Every follower of football knows those who are two footed. You don't need to quote history to remember who uses both feet . . We have to for lamps

I don't go to Youtube for Lamps goals. I have 100 Lampard and 100 Drogba goals recorded from ChelseaTV. I have watched them over and over and over again. I know what and what these fellas can't do.

Don't tell me sh.it

Pause video at 3.04 and inform yourself. More videos for you.

[flash=425,344]

"[/flash]

Just look half-volleys after half-volleys and you are telling me dude doesn't have technique. The guy has mastered the technique to take shots without thinking and even with his left foot. Ball in the air on the ground. . he takes it. Lamps has to have the ball most times on the ground!

I just noticed this properly now. . . . you are a FOOL!!!!

With which foot did Lampard score the winning goal against Everton in FA Cup final?

Kindly take yourself over to youtube if you have forgotten how often Lamps has scored with his left foot.

Now answer this. . . . . have you ever seen Stevie G pass the ball with his left foot?. . . . capital NO!. . . . he would rather waste time shifting the ball to his right foot than attempt any pass with his left foot. . . . on the the other hand, Lamps passes with both feet without blinking.

This is all conjecture. . .

Do you have stats to back this up?

Off the top of my head, I would argue that Liverpool scored as many goals from set-plays as Chelsea last season.

First Nateevs said Gerrards corners are better than Lamps (which they are).

Now you're saying those corners dont yield good results like Lampards corners.

Y'all better make ya mind up!

0

I disagree.

Nobody does it better than Carrick when it comes to passing the ball and making himself available to receive the ball.

Carrick's only flaw is his gentleman nature. He does not tackle enough as he relies more on interceptions than actually tackling the player with the ball.

HELL will freeze before Carrick will cop a red card.

Denilson is near the top of passing stats because of the way Arsenal play.

Arsenal fanny around with the ball quite a lot more than any other team in the EPL.

United can get the ball to the opponents' box within seconds cos they are direct.  Arsenal will pass n pass n pass n pass before they pose threats.

Lampard hits more KEY passes than Cesc.

I cannot count the number of times Drogba/Anelka have benefited from Lampard's slide-rule passes.

He is direct. He doesn't make 30 triangular passes to set up a goal assist like Cesc.

0
Avatar
Newbie

A key factor to passing is stamina. . . whilst Carrick is a good passer, he does not get himself in positions to receive the ball often enough, therefore he will never impact on the passing charts.

Denilson on the other hand is always running, looking to receive the ball and pass it on, thats why he is always near the top of the passing stats.

Like i said b4, many of lampards assists come from set pieces(he takes like 99% of them), and is further undermined by chelsea's prowess in the air.

If you must bring up stats, cite the ones that are clear for all to see, i.e goals, passes, shots etc not obscure stats like "key passes". What exactly is a key pass? Is there a global definition or is it cooked up by the pot-bellied folks at Actim? How on earth did lampard make 124 key passes last season(3.3 per game)? I watch most chelsea games, no way in hell did lampard average 3.3 "KEY passes". It is heavily flawed.

Sauron

Are u telling me lampard is a better passer of the ball than cesc? Or that lampard delivers more significant passes than cesc? Either of them are laughable.

Using stats to portray lampard a better player than gerrard is just as ridiculous as castrol telling us henry is the best player in the world.

0

It tells us a lot if Lampard is also leading the assists and key passes chart.

If all his passes are sideways and backward, he would not be leading the assists and key passes chart. . . . by a long margin I might add.

This analogy only applies to ineffective passers like Mikel and Denilson.

It is funny that Chelsea scored only 68 goals last season to Liverpools 77, yet Lampard was far more involved in the goals created than Gerrard.

I am still waiting for someone to produce concrete evidence that Gerrard is more effective than Lamps in any of the key areas of midfield play. . . . all Im hearing so far is conjecture an subjective opinions. . . most of these opinions formed by highlight reels on MOTD where Gerrards contribution is overemphasised. . . . I watch football with my eyes open, and without bias, and I tell you that Lampard is the most consistent and most effective midfielder I have seen in the last 7 years. . . . only Cesc has the potential to overtake him, and will do so this season.

0
Avatar
Newbie

I dont know what you are arguing here. . . .

I am of the opinion that Cesc is the greatest central midfielder ever seen in the Premiership.

Cesc >>>> Lampard >>>> Gerrard

I encourage everyone to explore the statistics and scale players up if they do make sufficient appearances.

For example, Lampard missed nearly 3 months of 07/08 season due to injury and his mothers death. He did not make the top list of passers because of that. However, if you check the statistics of passes per minute, Lampard was second only to Cesc Fabregas. . . . therefore, if we scale Lampard up to 38 games, he will naturallly come second in the charts for no of passes completed.

BTW, your mathematics is wrong. . . .

If Cesc made 22 appearances, then if we scale Cesc up to 37 games, we have 37/22*(63) = 105 key passes, not 180 as you claim.

BTW, anyone who doesnt think Denilson is a good passer of the ball needs to consult Debosky for tutelage. Denilson passes the ball very well. . . its in the key passes department where we seperate the effective passers (Lamps, Cesc) from the rest of the also-rans.

Actim Index is deceptive because it lays too much emphasis on the number of minutes played.

Denilson played more games than his peers last season thus his ascendancy in the Actim Index.

The ONLY way to know a better pass is the pass completion percentage.

Carrick SHYTES on any English midfielder bar SCHOLES as far as passing the ball is concerned but then you need more than passing the ball to be a complete midfielder. Gerrard and Lampard earn their money because apart from being a decent passer of the ball, they can shoot from any range, hit free-kicks, deliver decent crosses and other indices.

Carrick still needs to hone his skills in the other aspects. His passing of the ball is WORLD CLASS - I know that much.

Sauron

go and look up the actim index for last season and tell me how many midfielders ranked higher than denilson.

Let me ask u, who is a better passer of the ball, lampard or carrick?

statistically, who passed the ball better last season, lampard or carrick?

Statistics are useless in football!

Stop watching your football on a Black/White TV.

The object is to keep it simple.

Gerrard attempts 50 hollywood passes with only 2 or 3 going to the intended player. . . . . .That is not good enough.

Lampard keeps it simple. He spots Drogba and he makes the eye of the needle pass with the required weight and it's BINGO.

I have seen Lampard co-ordinate Chelsea's midfield when it seemed there was no real leader in the TEAM.

I remember Barca 2-2 Chelsea at Nou Camp. Lampard stood tall amongst the best midfield players in Europe.

Gerrard is just a small fish in a tiny pond and i am 100% sure he is not in Lampard's category.

Who said Denilson is amongst the 5 best players in the EPL?

Denilson is not in the top 15 midfielders in the EPL.

I challenge any NL analyst to prove to me Denilson has a better stat than the usual suspects.

Take your blinkers off.

Thats why we have a statistics called key passes. . . . ie passes in a move that lead to a goal or chance. . . . lemme remind you. . . .

Key Passes:

Lampard - 124

Gerrard - 80

Fabregas - 63

Alonso - 62

Barry - 60

^^^Nateevs, you better take note of the above. . . . it will help you differentiate between possession kings like Mikel and Denilson from effective killas like Lampard.

Mugu. . . . I am now sure you dropped Mathematics before Junior WAEC. . . . lemme help you. . .

Lampard = 37 starts, Gerrard = 30 starts.

No of key passes: Lampard = 124, Gerrard = 80.

Let us scale Gerrard up to 37 matches = 37/30 (80) = 98.7. . . . still a cool 25 key passes behind Lampard.

No of blocks: Lampard = 9, Gerrard = 1.

If a nucca made one block in 30 matches, you dont need Mathematics to tell you that I would be generous to apportion him 2 blocks in 37 games. . . . . still 7 blocks behind Lampard.

Total passes: Lampard = 2,560, Gerrard = 1,930

Scaling Gerrard up to 37 games, we have 37/30 (1930) = 2380. . . . still a cool 180 passes behind Lampard.

I can carry on and on. . . . but Im sure you catch the drift by now. . . . now drift off!

fa, fa, fa, foul!. . . . so what do you have to say next?

Gerrard is a counterattacking player and most counterattacking players are watched cos of their speed. . . . mugu. .  . it makes no sense to mark a traditional central midfielder like Lamps. . . . . naturally, traditional central midfielders manmark each other just by their position on the pitch. . . .  have you ever seen anyone manmarking Fabregas before? . . . . tactical mugu!

BTW, what an easy job that was for Essien. . . . totally exposed Gerrards lack of technique in tight spaces. . . all the mugu wants to do is burst forward in speed. . . . anyone who is faster than him would easily manmark him.

This is why your ties to Gerrard are emotional, not logical. Yes, he was lucky that his best moment came in CL final and FA Cup final. . . . however, he is not of the same consistency as Lampard.

I will also remind you that Lampard won FA cup final for Chelsea and also dragged them back into a CL final. . . amongst other games such as Bayern Munich quarter final match etc. . . . we do not congratulate Lamps in Roy of the Rovers hyperbole like the English press do to Gerrard who is accredited with every single comeback. . .

0

Now this is where you are talking absolute bollocks. . .

Why did you fail to post the number of start. . . If you didn't want to I will help you . . .

Lampard - 37 starts

Gerrard - 30 starts.

Now do you see that your nonsense stats are flawed. I told you from the stats that Lamps makes more passes is no yardstick. Everyone knows Lamps never misses a game and that's the advantage he's got. He will be damn right useless if he didn't have more passes after playing more games. The number of games started by both midfielders however shows, that Gerrard may just nick it or maybe even even the stats.

That does not prove anything. Lamps plays every game and that's one of the reasons he scores more goals than most mid-fielders. Lamps is a box to box midfielder and that is very different from one that dominates.

Last year CL 1/4 finals. . . . Liverpool V Chelsea. . . Gus Hiddink - one of the world's best tacticians and readers of the game developed a plan to put a man on Gerrard. . to effectively cut out the supply from Gerrard.

Hiddink says. . . "It is not so difficult to know where the weapons and arms are in Liverpool. It is Torres and Gerrard and the triangle with Dirk Kuyt and the right-back Alvaro Arbeloa. This is what you have to disarm and Essien was key in this."

If you don't know. . . You don't attempt to man mark a "useless midfielder" like you call him. . . You don't man-mark a midfielder that does not dominate the midfield. You don't man-mark a midfielder that's not creative.

Where in history have heard someone man-marking Lamps?. . . That's because he's not creative, because he does not dominate and he is not all that.

Only of course if you call Hiddink an idi.ot as well.

Abeg leave all these stats things alone. . . The only thing Frank does better than Steven is  score goals. Take that away and Lamps is just an ordinary footballer. .

This is fraudulent. Absolute bollocks. . . This stats thingy is really pushing boudaries.

Chelsea V Fulham . . Last Chelsea match. . .

Lampard 44 passes - 37 completed.

Mikel 42 passes - 40 completed.

Now according to Ibime that makes Mikel a better midfielder than Lampard. . . Which single one of those 40 passes from Mikel actually created anything threatening. . . I can tell you. . . NONE.

Meanwhile stats tell you a different story. . . Man I have got eyes and I see where Mikel passes the ball to most times. .

Same theory is being imported into this Gerard - Lamps debate.

Sauron

Lampard in a flat 4-4-2 is 10 times worse than Gerrard. Lampard needs AT LEAST two other CM's by his side to mask his inadequacies.

Gerrard is a far better passer of the ball than Lampard. He attempts more killer balls than Lampard, who only picks out passes Stevie Wonder could make, which is why Lampard has better passing stats.

As a matter of fact, the only thing Lampard has on his side is stats, which are EXTREMELY DECEPTIVE!

The same kind of stats that rank Denilson among the 5 best players in the EPL. . . The same kind of stats that rank Henry the best player in the world. This isnt basketball, in soccer, stats go out the window.

P.S. i have watched Lampard play 499 games and he's FAILED to dictate play in 500 of them.

The day lampard rescues his team twice in a FA cup final, wake me from my beauty sleep.

The day Lampard doubles as a right back and mid fielder to rescue his team from 3-0 deficit to AC Milan in a UCL final, wake me up from my Gerardic slumber.

Gerrard is not even a midfielder. . . . . .He is now a 2nd striker.

Comparing Gerrard to Lampard is like comparing Rooney to Lampard. . . . . .

Gerrard's positional discipline is atrocious.

In a 2-man midfield, Carrick and Fletcher are better than Gerrard. He is the main reason Liverpool have not won the Premiership.

Lampard shytes on Gerrard everyday of the week.

This actually proves Ibime is not only a blind observer but a charlatan when it comes to analysing English football.

Paul Scholes defecates on the names above in the no of passes/accuracy of passes PER minute played in the Premiership.

Who is Cesc, Denilson or Lampard compared to the Ginger-man?

Points re-posted. Until you can counter this points. You are making less and less sense.

Frankie will cross the ball from a corner kick to the hands of the goalie . . time after after. Gerard understands how to curl a ball. Steve knows just how to swing the ball in or out from a corner.

Steve will skip past players . . one, two in a flash and Frank will only dream of that.

Frankie cannot head a freaking ball even if his life depended on it. . Stevie G is a perfect header of the ball from both sides.

Stevie's technique poo on frank any day. First time ball control makes Frank look like a cheap baller.

Steve's shot from range WITH BOTH FEET and perfectly most times is worthy of emulation for any young and upcoming footballer.  When Steve takes a half-volley from range, 90% of the time, he hits the target. Lamps hits the ball and 30% of the time, it's off target, 30% hits an opposing player, 30% deflects and the a tiny % scores. . . AND HE CAN ONLY DO THAT WITH HIS RIGHT FOOT,  . . Stevie takes shot with both feet . . ALWAYS!

Steve understands how to lift a team. Lamps can't lift a team.

Steve's a massive free-kick taker. .Time after time he scores a free kick. and a mile off when it comes to set-piece taking. He understands just how to curl the ball. Lamps can only rely on a straight shot hoping for a deflection off the wall. . Lamps can never understand what it means to curl the ball over a wall.

Steve understands how to play with space. His passing from range is second to none.

Gerard is super versatile - can play in midfield, on the left, on the right and as a support striker.

Lamps can only play on the left side of midfield and in a 4-3-3. Mono dimensional. . . (one of the massive problems of Chelsea) World class mid-fielders - just name it will all play in any given position in midfield. Gerard will play in a 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 4-5-1, diamond . . . just name it. because it takes skill to do that. Drop Lamps in anything apart from a 4-3-3 and everything grinds to a halt.

And you are telling me that Frank is this Frank is that. . . Abeg enough of the zobo. I am a massive massive Chelsea but I can't accept from anyone what Frankie is not. Frankie better than Stevie?. . . You are really having a laugh.

This is just pages and pages of bullsh+it and numbers. . You are not telling me anything except number. You are not telling me anything I don't already know about Lamps.

He scores goals and makes many passes. Why don't you fetch out out the number of appearances to pass ratio. That will probably do justice. Lamps will naturally have a greater number of passes because he hardly misses games.

That said, you have not told me anything we all don't know about Lamps. Lamps is more prominent than Steve only because Chelsea in recent years has been more glamorous than Liverpool. . nothing more. . AND BECOS HE PLAYS IN EVERY GAME.

This is the hallmark of your pages of points? This is at best empty. Why don't you do us a favour by telling us what exactly it is he does. Please say it. I have given you highlights of what Steve is and what Frank is not and I am going to repost my points just so you can see. My points make more sense than your littany of bullsh.it. It's empty.

http://www.espnstar.com/football/premier-league/news/detail/item370371/Lampard-is-Player-of-the-Decade/

Lampard is Player of the Decade

Chelsea dynamo Frank Lampard has been revealed as the Barclays Premier League's Player of the Decade.

The England international was handed the honour by facts and figures giant Opta who studied every English top-flight game since January 1, 2000.

After crunching the stats, Opta declared that Lampard has the most games and the most wins to his name, the 31-year-old also has the second-most number of assists and the fourth-highest goalscoring record.

Lampard beat Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher to the most appearances record, finishing five games ahead of his Scouse rival thanks to the 346 matches - 210 of which were wins - he has featured in.

The former West Ham favourite finished second on 76 to Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs in the assists stakes, and fourth after Thierry Henry in the goalscoring charts. The Frenchman bagged 169 goals for Arsenal.

Current Roma boss Claudio Ranieri, who signed Lampard from the Hammers for £11million in June 2001, is far from surprised with the results.

"This news fills me with a great satisfaction and pride because Frank Lampard is totally unique," Ranieri told The Sun.

"He is a complete player and so professional. It doesn't surprise me that he is the best statistically, ahead of other players you might consider to be even bigger stars.

"I'll tell you something. In my view Frank Lampard is a genuine 'Pallone d'oro' - which means he should be a European Footballer of the Year. He really is that good.

"He is up there with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of quality - he is just a different type of player.

"He does difficult things but he makes them look simple and that is why some people think he is less spectacular.

"But I am glad the statistics have shown what a great player Lampard is. They show just how influential he is.

"Lampard has such a strong mentality and that probably shines through too. Only the other day he had to take a penalty three times but he still scored. That tells you how cool he is under pressure, how focused.

"Frank makes a difference to any game he is in. Sometimes it is obvious, sometimes it is less obvious. But he is so often the key to a victory.

"That's why I am really glad that he has been recognised in some way as the player of the decade in England."

Quote from youtube:

The Observer newspaper voted Gerrard their man of the match for yesterday's England v Estonia game. I heard somebody call them blind and thought I'd rewatch the game and prove the newspaper right with Gerrard's highlights from the game.

Lampard cant even do anything Ibime listed except score. The most unforgivable of them being his inability to dictate play. A central/attacking midfielder who cant dictate play is a disgrace.

While Gerrard gets in the center of the action Lampard anonymously strolls round the field for 90 minutes waiting for his team-mates to win a penalty so he can score.

Why idnt Fat Frank hit target in 34 attempts at the last Mundial.

34 shots, 0 on target.

Both are overrated but I still prefer Gerrard

And you've always yarned nonsense. . . . . ALWAYS.

The only thing Gerrard has over Lampard is a burst of pace.

Is Gerrard even a midfielder?

No Xabi Alonso, no Liverpool. Gerrard cant even control his midfield. Eeediot!!!

When it comes to passing, assisting, scoring, ground covered, tackling, dictating the midfield etc. . . . Lampard >>>>>> Gerrard
