Na wah oh! All dis people weh dey too patriotics na dem dey spoil nigeria. Which kind YEYE fireworks bi dat? U started throwing knock-outs before d end d match, that is absolutely premature. Shey dey tell dem say spanish people or d world never see fireworks before? 2 worsen it all, one wicked baba wey e hand don dey scratch am go off d light 2 show 9ja colour 2 d world, despite all d money we have. That's very shameful. Before fifa go fit allow 9ja host again, e go reach 50th century. So stop praising bad things.

i dey front of my system. All i am simply saying is they could and should have allowed the 2 secs elapse before turning off the light. Atleast even a foll with half a brain should know that.

With this, i can see that you just wanted to write something sha about the topic

come on at least the light went off

according to what we are reading they deliberately turned the light off to enhance the lightworks?? sounds kinda funny considering it was a late match and the fireworks were clearly visible before the lights went off

any way let's celebrate and book hotels for South Africa 2010 in advance!

Floodlights went off twice in MLS Western conference finals game in Los Angeles,USA featuring David Beckham & his team last night.

Im not saying it should, but we tend to be too critical of ourselves,I know we have useless leaders . . . BUT. . . . .

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO THE LIGHT

International Football - Beckham's Galaxy reach MLS final

Reuters - Sat, 14 Nov 08:26:00 2009

Buzz Up!

The Los Angeles Galaxy and David Beckham reached the MLS Cup final after a 2-0 extra-time victory over the Houston Dynamo in a game halted twice for floodlight failure.

Terry England's latest injury concern

The Galaxy will meet the winner of the Eastern Conference final on Saturday between Chicago Fire and Real Salt Lake City in next Sunday's final in Seattle to determine the MLS champions.

The floodlights went out in the 18th minute, causing an almost 20-minute break, and the same happened again six minutes after the interval with stadium officials blaming the local grid for the failure.

Houston came close to taking the lead in the 78th minute when Brian Ching's header was spectacularly tipped over by LA keeper Donovan Ricketts and from the resulting corner Andrew Hainault headed home but the effort was ruled out for an infringement.

that was part of the rebranding programme in nigeria.

some nigerians are saying the camara was faced up and some were saying they just switched off the light.

at the end of the day, glory be to God nigeria was winning the game before the shameful and cultural display otherwise the fans would have made a mess of the situation and the consequences wld have been a brutal one.

all the same, tornaments like these are used the showcase the real situations in countries as in what they can offer.

nigeria was able to showcase what we are used to and what we enjoy as a people despite our oil reserves.

at least the world was able to see how we have been living despite all efforts to cover things up.

And what's wrong with 2 seconds? did Spain complain that the light stopped them from scoring 2 equalizing goals?

I really don't understand how some people think. What would have gone wrong if the "celebrations" had waited till the ref blew the final whistle two seconds later? Couldn't the controller general of the flood light wait for the whistle?

Why are people sometimes very silly, the lightout was meant to enhance the fireworks and over excitement did not allow the switch controller know that the match had not ended? Absolute rubbish!

i did read the posts and they look like speculations. i also know that not all the floodlights went off and the question is the timing. the intention of the lagos state government to make use of fireworks was also announced to the world way before the semi-finals. if timing was done anyhow in this universe, how would we have harmony instead of chaos,? how would scientists be able to collide probes against comets to study them, how would we know when solar and lunar eclipses would occur? how would we be sure of dawn and dusk? I also share some of the views of @Dis guy. timing and planning are vital

if you scroll down, you would have read from other contributors about what happened yesterday, i imploy all nairalanders to always read to the fullest a thread before they comment to avoid posting something that others won't find appropriate or funny. so please bro, read through the thread then you would know what happened

if this was part of a plan one would expect the game to be over proper!

the broadcasters should have been informed or atleats everyone should have been informed before the game

some sort of announcement on the screen saying what was happening

considering what happened in some part already with lights what do you honestly think the commentators will say?

if this was a PLAN the Refree wont run immediately

If you actually have a plan people wont be left guessing what's going on!!!

the rules are there for a reason 90+ is exactly that not 2seconds before!!!

The intention was good but the process is rubbish as usual nothing to do with patriotism at all !!!!

wow, you raised a nice point, who can actually tell us what happened from and straight from the horse's mouth too? do you recall the "african time" that FIFA complained about at the start of Nigeria '99. Timing is important in this universe and we ought to be striving to set the pace, not just imitation. and i've been around for a while, just haven't posted much.

the issu there is just that we r not that educated or let me say enlightened. where on earth hav u noticed dat, where a final match is not played, just that u r the host country,u won the semi fanal match, the referee have not/or just blown d whistle. the at the light section was too anxious to let the fireworks display . aat least the players shld leave the pitch first. very very very shameful. shameful indeed. how are we going to look at the international community, na we go first be the host nation?

Nigerians, must u always criticize?

a flood light was on ystdy,

it was planned!!!

i watched dat match nd wen the light went off i knew its was to enhance the fire work.

thought of PHCN neva came across my mind.

i was extremely happy because lagos did it in a special way

no wonder the slogan was tag "Eko owns the game".

i wonder why some people will come here and be saying rubbish.

even a blind person will tell u that wat happened at the stadium yesterday has nothing to do with PHCN.

cos at first, the light was running on Gen. nd not PHCN.

This was not the reason for the fireworks, the organizers would have still gone ahead with the fireworks if the eaglets didn't win because it was done by the Lagos loc to celebrate the successful hosting of the preliminary, round 16 and the semi finals here in lagos and to also make fifa happy in case they want to consider giving Nigeria another hosting right in the future, they might have to consider giving Lagos the opening and the closing matches.
