Too many pieces of "advice" might leave you confused.

By the way, when are you or your "friend" due to make the decision?

As for me, i'd say both options are good, depending on your motives and your situations which no one knows better than yourself: Even, i can see that your advisers have split suggestions on the issue, that means, whether you take the bank job or you proceed to the UK, in either way, you can utilise your opportunity for an enviable career.

So, it's up to you.

schooling in the U.K is not the be all and end all. Depend what you really want in life, job security or financial freedom,

I attend uni in the most expensive part of London and trust me student life here is no joke. To do a part time job and study is NOT feasible in certain universities and on certain courses, trust me, If you can get ADEQUATE funding for you time in the U.K, the uni offer would probably be a useful addition to your education. I dont know what someone was saying about 200 pounds a month accommodation, depends where you live/study I guess but where I am halls of residence is NO less than 500 pounds a month (and that is if you are sharing). Minimum you will need for food every week as a student is 30-40 pounds. If you need more advice on costs etc I could give you.

Basically, you need to determine how important the degree abroad is to your life. If it is important pursue it but you MUST come up with a realistic budget for your expenses before stepping foot out of Nigeria, my own opinion,

I have taken his word for it now. I know cases do differ though. And there have been outstanding miracles of visa applicants to the UK and also in the UK. On this note, I drop any further discourse in respect to his case.

How are you doing anyway?

@ bumpy john,

Good luck with whatever you do in the UK.

Enjoy.

please people, stop all these insults and aggression.

As long as you can't physically see people's documentation, you just have to take their word for it.

And there is nothing wrong in exploring other career paths, even if the timeline is a bit fishy.

@ nairalanders

He now proclaim that he was wrong about joe okoro thing!!!( when I don threaten to sue you for defamation and subsequent  deportation… lol)

Phatakee I don’t gain anything mis informing people, if you are still in Holland text me your phone contacts I will call you to enlighten you the more on my success.

@ Phatakee

I bet your BP is rising over another man issue, what I don’t know I will never come on board to tell the people I know it.

Let me ask you, do you reside in England?? I am quite aware that your visa appeal to UK was refused twice hence you decided to be wondering around in Holland!!!

I am glad I did not follow those advise you initially gave to me on visa issues( all good thanks to blue2, monddallars e.t.c who really took time out to deal with my visa enquiries ,this same set of guys can attest to my success here) who knows I might be India like yourself now .

If you must know, though I train as a scientist before I left Nigeria I already have SAP and Sage100 accounting qualification.

I don’t really know when the number of post on nairaland now became criteria to determine Mr Know-all( for the fact that you are jobless sleeping on this forum does not mean some of us are jobless)

Is it £10 per hour in Downing Street that is making you mad?? The new info is I am leaving downing street come 31st of march for another good job(software testing) that will be fetching me £250 per day, so be prepare to go into sea.

My friend I am not really interested in trading words but let it sink into your thick skull that I don’t make a mountain out of mole-hill on issues, the fact that you consider some attempts in your life as a failure does not mean such attempts is a failure all round for all people.

So relax man and stop creating unnecessary hypentension for yourself, seek info first before your empty drum starts to make noise.

Lastly howz your guyz in red light districts in Holland doing?

I reserved my  comments( you are one of a person i gat so much respect for)!!! if you need clarifications drop your mail or mobile, i have met a quite few nairaland members here in england and wales (one of them just left my crib in london and travel back to newcastle)  who can attest to this information . of  what use is lying on the above mentioned concern?? i don't know the poster from adams!!! what i gave is a personal experience

@ phatakhee

You are ignored!!! i will still like you to bring out the evidence on your presume joel okoro( do you even know what is call defamation of character??), , however you need to dig into my working with exxon mobil production in nigeria as a finance officer, i bet when you get this info you will have to sue exxon mobil  nigeria for employing a biochemist as a finance officer. exchanging words with you will be a bloody insult on my intellect!!!

I would be suprised if one will not need a CRB(Criminal Record Burea) to work in Downing street. And this cannot come out withing that time.

@Pataki

Be careful.

Only God knows how many Visa Agents you've sent away from here.

Seun needs to place you on salary.

@Author

Before you set sail to UK, make sure you have paid almost the full fees, then you can do part-timework to sort out your maintenance.

You do a lot of courseworks in UK NOT "cram and deliver" in Test/examinations as we do in Nigeria.

@Pataki

I just ignore his Downing street thingy.

Dem think we be JJC in the land sef.

@Imani

Na wa for you.

@ Akolawole

Thanks alot for your indepth analysis, but i must let you know it"s a personal experience. If you must know seems d employer was desperate for me , lol hence i was employed as soon as i got to uk( nothing is impossible).

my lectures was always mon-weds (9-3) and i work 5-7 during this days, while i work full time on thurs and frids.

Am through with the coursework so i no dey go lectures again , i dey work full time.(35hrs)

I am using my NI 24/7 and i don do renewal, even i got friends here that work in security firms (they work 70hrs weekly) and dey just renew their visa.

I  might not be an expat on immigration issues, but from experience home office no too dey shakara postgraduate students from universities unlike the colleges(of course NFAs don polarise colleges).

Egbon, i work in downing street  as a finance officer the seat of united kingdom goverment if you are still not convinced i can send a private mail to you from my office e-mail.(God dey).

lastly i am one of the guys that graduated from your visa appeal process,  (i did not appeal anyway, i just reapply immediately i was refused initially and pronto !!! i got the visa)

you guys are doing wonderful jab on the appeal thread anyway,  cheers

@ funkybabe

I reserve my comments

@Bump John

So you are one of those guys that our popular thread "UK visa appeal process" had helped before you travel to UK.

I see.

@ bumpy john,

Please listen to what Mr Pataki, Akolawole, funkybaby and others have said concerning the working issue. Please dont take chances!!! As long as you have NI, your income can always be traced, except of course you are paid in cash. Working more hours than you are permitted used to be overlooked, but make sure you take a good look at the new visa forms that are being issued from this year.

@poster

Personally,i would rather go to UK to study. Diamond bank pays entry staff between 70k to say 90k monthly after all deductions has been made. I no even think say e reach 90k.

I would rather rough it out in UK (But my school fees must have been paid oh-or worst case scenario-my debt with the school should not be more than £2,000).

They will tell you that because they don't know what is

on the other side.

@ poster,

Tell your friend to take that job today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ poster

I will advice you to dump the diamond offer and take up your postgrad studies, have you ever heard this phrase “slow and steady wins the race”. If you don’t work out your Bottom how would you get to the peak of ypur career??

Let me tell you don’t get discouraged by what people write weigh out your options and pray for God guidance , not all UK students suffer like people makes it look like, I am doing my masters currently and to tell you something I got job(office job) the 3rd week I came into England and I have never got any job less than £10 per hour ever since.

Talking about working and breaking rules!!! Even in America people break the 20 hrs rules so I don’t consider it a big deal so far you have demonstrated evidence of satisfactory progress in your academics.

Bank jobs in Nigeria is just something to keep boys going(reigning thing), I tell you prospects is dull, even the bankers will tell you this.

cheers

the earlier you go to study, the better. I would advise he resigns now. What position in the bank if i may ask? He can go for studies and come back to the bank job and a higher position than what was offered to him.

Depends on how much Diamond is offering. If it's just entry level stuff, go further your education to broaden future opportunities. If we are talking serious dough, I'd think twice. . . perhaps collect my dough for a cpl years and take a leave of absence to further my studies later on.
