i 've lived in sa myself for 51/2 yrs and i tell u that its not gonna be as bad as the west want the world to believe.but its really a jungle out there, so one still need to be careful.

@all the sa people coming to nairaland to talk 'poo' ala sa, i'll tell them to shut up cos there country is not really all that!sa is beautiful and the infrastructures are working but the people are the worst set of people i've come across.

be careful with the inner city of jo'burg as is really dangerous in there especially around that soccer city area {stadium}remember, ojuelegba in lagos where i reside now is safer than the richest african suburb of sandton just some ten mins drive from jo'burg cbd. heard they've finished the inner city metro rail system ,so navigation will now be easier.cos u can just board a train from the airport for just 2:50rands to the inner city and and from there u take another one to the suburbs.can't really say much about this cos i left since 2007 .

be very wary of ur compatriots that live there as they pose a greater risk and be careful wit the girls!

please don't come back without seeing capetown the 5th most beautiful city on earth!

here's some world cup pics that might be of help to impending travelers.

Tickets between Nigeria and argentina are sold out, but i know u can buy Nigeria vs Korea in Durban for about $200 in FNB SA; i also heard its been sold in Afribank, in Nigeria.

Guys, SA will be safe, isnt as bad as d media portrait it. Am sure, it will be the best world cup ever.

Am sure u can still get hotels and Guesthouses from $75 . and u can also get individuals renting out there houses

Wont mind to hook up with guys coming from Nigeria as well, especially those who going to stay in Gauteng.( Jo burg and Pretoria)

Does anyone know the cost of tickets for Nigerian [group stage] matches?

I feel your anxiety bro. On the flipside, south africa knows the media is out to get them. They are quite keen to keep a clean record at least during the tournament. Their security budget is the largest in world cup history.

Crime may not turn up to be as bad as feared. Just keep a cool head and take the usual precautions. Good luck.

I wonder if those going plan to stay in a hotel. Word is that they are so expensive.

I will be there. But because of time constraints, I wont be able to spend more than a week.

Teslim there are a lot of my friends from lagos who are going to the WC. Don't mind that buffon lamenting he think say naija people poorlike that. The main reason you don't hear people say they are going tothe WC is because as usual naija people don't like to divulge their travel plans from  for fear of set up, bad belle or juju. Tis a customary behaviour for a Nigerian not to tell you his plans before he does something or give you wrong dte of when him tdey go somewhere.

As for me I will be at the WC. I will be flying out from Abuja on the fifth of June, will be chilling in England for a while and then off to SA for the Naija/Argentina Match by Gods grace.

Just follow the green white green shirts!!!
