@ napa:

Start planning to leave that job; i don't mean to sound negative, but start planning to start your own business. U must have heard that what you are doing is modern day slavery. I've done this marketing before, so I can say from experience. I dreaded Monday meetings.

There's a young female friend of mine, about 26 years of age who resigned from Zenith bank over 2 months ago to concentrate on her business & I can say, she's good at what she does & also enjoys it.

As for the 200M, are you a christian?, then take it to God in prayer and then go boldly to offices and companies, the worst that can happen is the answer "No". On the other hand, because God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above what we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20), who knows, you might even exceed the target. Its according to your faith.

Cheers and all the best!!! Waiting for the testimony,

According to Tai Solarin yesteryears- "May your days be rough" he prayed

So be it for you and may your target be increased from N200M to N1.5B , if it would cruise you to your destiny and make you realize your purpose of creation and existence

Please consult Nelson Mandela or Olusegun Obasanjo for further piece of advice

Good luck

Personally, i think something awesome is actually going to come out of all the 'bruhaha' & seeming heartache. why? some of these fellas who lost or are yet to lose their 'bank jobs' would wake up from their slumber and then put some of their exposure to practise (both in the private & public sectors).

be on the look out for the Partnerships!

'sorry, if i sound insentitive or uncaring but i'm excited.

It depends on many factors- especially if u are an average individual with limited contacts.

but as far as I'm concerned, the most important factor is the product you are selling, and your brand name.

If you work in firstbank, GTB, zenith e.t.c, I dont think u will have a herculean task in meeting a good percentage of that target, provided u are focused and knew how to sell convince your customers (not that they will need much persuasion anyway)

But if u are in any of the troubled banks, or any bank whose brand is not known, or banks which do not command customers loyalty, then u definitely have ur work cut out for you. you will need either or a combination of the following, to meet that target;

top connection

good lying ability

Kitty-Cat power

pure luck

divine intervention.

take ur pick.

It is very important to remind us again how banking works.

- This girl’s salary is probably N300,000 per annum (gross pay could take it higher than N300k).

- She must have been told that her salary is so before she took the job.

- For her employer (Bank) to pay her such salary, the bank MUST generate the excess of her salary as income (considering that the bank has other costs, including building, NEPA, security, stationery etc)

NOW, LET US ANALYSE HER N200 MILLION (OBVIOUSLY FIXED DEPOSIT) TARGET

- N200 million in 30 days will generate an income of about N328,767 monthly.

How?

-N200m is taken from a customer at the rate of say 13%p.a. (or above); The bank pays her income at a transfer pricing rate of say 15%p.a. (or thereabouts).

-This leave a margin (spread) of 2%p.a.

-Using ordinary Simply Interest calculation (N200,000,000 x 30 Days x 2%pa). This gives N329,000 per month, which is just the employee’s salary alone (other costs including cost of the car she cruises for marketing, fuel, Diesel are not yet factored in).

The truth is that MOST PEOPLE WANT TO HAVE THEIR CAKE AND EAT IT, by reaping without sowing. But, life is not like that.

MY ADVICE:

If she thinks she cannot get deposits to pay for her salary, let her resign and get a job in the CIVIL SERVICE, where she would earn N40,000, have her peace of mind and have enough time for herself too.

Using sentiments to judge real issues is not good.

Anyway, we are all involved.

its quite unfortunate that uve been given a huge rope round ur neck right now. but i gat 2 ask some questions cos it depends on the ffg:

Q1. Are u a newly employed staff in the bank?

If YES, then its aweful and the upcoming grads shud watch out for that bank!

If NO, then have u been given a target close to that b4 and u reached it? Cos that might be a reason it was increased.

Q2. Did u tell them during ur interview that u cud bring a lot of money for them from marketing? As some newly employed boast a lot of this so as to get employment.

Also, what position are u in the marketing dept? Ur promotion cud actually warrant the HEAVY target.

Anyway, goodluck!

I feel your pain. Its not just right. They want you to meet that target in this global recession period? Which bank is it any way? May be the CBN guys who snoop in once in a while will be able to help if you mention the name. I thought Sanusi has asked them to stop this poo.

How do you want it FDA or DDA?

I want to believe you took up this job and signed the performance contract associated with it so it is not the fault of the bank in question. 200m? That is rather small, you must be an ET or something close. If we all bring our targets to NAiraland, am sure it's not going to accommodate us. Just pray about it and go meet your top-profile customers.

These Banks are just unbelievable. Slavery, that's what i call this!

You are even scared to touch your salary after the whole panic about target-crazy managers!

Can you give us the name of this God forsaking bank so that our school leavers will be early informed. Very important!

Thats one of the disadvantages associated with these kind of work. They give you target and if you don't meet up, it puts your job at risk. My advice is that start up something doing now.

@ Napa

N200 million by can be met depending on various factors.

what market r u playing?

If u're in public sector & u have the contacts, then one account could do the magic for you.

However, if u're in a commercial seting like urs truly, then forget the N200milla in reatained balances & focus on driving transactions that will bring in the income for your bank.

No how the bank go sack a money maker. besides, it might be ur income that the bank will use to pay the exorbitant interest rate the customer will

demand on N200million.

However, my dear if u're in an upcountry branch e.g say u're in damaturu, & u aint ready to beat some alhaji's sausage, then kiss the N200milla bye bye.
