Job Opportunities For Educated And Skilled African American Women In Nigeria?

I am traveling to Lagos, Nigeria in June and thinking about relocating to Nigeria. What does the job market look like for African American women would have the credentials, education, and skills?

With your qualifications, if you really want to earn enough money to keep you reasonable well, then you will have to focus on foreign bodies.

People with your skills are not appreciated by Nigerian organisations and institutions if the pay potential is used as a judgement tool.

Try and contact foreign missions and their associated entities (e.g. Spanish embassy and any associated spanish language programme the embassy might jointly be running) or international schools (like the British International School Nigeria, American International School Nigeria) where you can continue your educational line.

Hello Bossman,

It's about time someone responds some sense on this Nairaland Forum. I have been reading the job boards and posting my resume. I do have a couple of leads. However, I am exploring all options in between now and the time I leave in June. I do have contacts both here in the US and in Nigeria. You mentioned that you and your family will be relocating as well in June. Have you found a place to reside in with you and your family. My residence will be in Okota, Nigeria. I am also looking into other property in Nigeria as well. Are you American like me or not? Perhaps when we arrive in Nigeria, sometime we could meet each other as well as our family members.

Must Success to You and Your Family

You may want to check out the job boards and see what's out there for your line of work. You can also take a few resumes with you when you visit in June. Also, as for relocating to Lagos, do you have any contacts there that will help you ease the process, or you plan on getting a job first before relocating? I will suggest the latter.

I am in a somewhat similar situation. I have family here in the US, but looking for a 1 - 2 year IT (Application Architect)contract position in Lagos. Coincidentally, I will be in Lagos in June too.

Bawomolo,

I do not understand the phrase baby "pancake" pic. As for my skills they are mainly in the business and education sectors in United States and Spain. I have taught (mostly) visual arts, Spanish, mathematics, English Language Arts, and Special Education since 1992. In addition, I am a multi-skilled artist in drawing, painting, graphic design, stained glass, and mixed media. I have earned a BS in Education, and three MA's in Spanish, Learning Disabilities, and Educational Leadership. I am certified in all three areas.

Peace
