We r not sociologists, we can work in any of this institutions of crime: ARMY, POLICE, COURT, NDLEA, CUSTOM etc. My Dear aspirant, u can also work in the bank, companies, government house etc. U can work as a private firm, team investgator or consultant, personal adviser on security mater. It is a closer course to law. It is law per say, this are the courses u will offer: criminalistics, criminal justice system, criminal procedure and evidence act, law, Nigeria criminal law, court system, terrorism, cyber crime, psycology, police service, and sbove all, legal pratice and many more. Study it and let's join hand and jail all this morons.

Hey Poster,

If you are determined to study this course go ahead and let the sky be your peak.

I am proud to tell you that i am also a student of Criminology and have very good insight of what it is to be one,

Never mind where you will work or do when you finish skool,

Plenty work dey for you, even being a private investigator, you will ave right to practice and even prosecute people like a real cop,

There are plenty of people out there willing to pay the price to get a professional handle their investigation cases and the chances are there hence there are very few people in Nigeria with such profession which i am one,

I have a war badge and i know how much the force value people this this not more a B.A in Criminology or Psychology,

Enjoy your course and meet me at the top if you are able to make it lets jail all these yahoo boyz who are discouraging you, LOL

Just be focused and worry not on what to do with the degree but how to get it,

By the time you finish Nigeria Police Force may Need a new Inspector General who has a Degree in criminology and that would be an opportunity for you,

If it is Nigeria forget what u studied at school. Nigeria is all about no connection no job. Take for instance our president and his vice. our president is a teacher and his vice a zoologist. Today there are in position that does not concern their discipline. The major thing is for u to make sure that u have Bsc and can defend your self anywhere. Ovation editor is a typical example, he studied yoruba in one the nigerian university

Lol, I should study accounting?,

That's funny. We already have enough accantants in Nigeria, and I think we need enough criminologists that will be monitoring those accantants so that they won't eat Nigerian money.

And also, Nigeria is full of fraudulent, so we really need criminologists ok?.

Young man abi na woman,

i am a graduate of sociology and psychology with a major in psychology.

I have no intentions of joining the police none whatsoever.

You should have researched properly before delving into a field of study with a very broad spectrum.

Criminology as i know it is not a all people kome and eat kourse.

Guy u need to know ur onions before u chop them up.

Basically you kan have a beautiful career as a police officer with such a degree, but with the level of corruption, greed and bastatrdisation of the entire social system, bros u wont get far unless things change.(plenty grammar abi?)

The truth is this criminologists no plenty for naija and my peeps wey do am went straight into the NDA and are officers with the navy and army intelligence units. Now poster, unless u hav the heart to take all d trash in the NDA thats a fine career line too, kos the perks these bois enjoy, u kan never imagine.

Another career line is u kan end up a lecturer in a university and become a member of top of the block professional bodies and organisation, u kan also become an official of the INTERPOL at Simi na my friend and she be profiler for FBI and with a degree in criminology too.

For me i finished my degree u wont believe it but i have an MCSE in messaging and security.I use my skills in developing customer relationship management policies that are people oriented. Thank God for my course now i know how to reach out to people and understand them without making them ruffle their feathers, think well before u do dis, it's a long drive down hill and a longer one up hill, it's ur kall man, do not let the societal views determine who u want to be man, never allow people imagine your world for you, play your cards right, get close to God and your family, and u will see wat happens,

adios amigos

@posterboy, dont take all these opinions to heart, criminology is a decent course and a well specialised one, if u fancy being a policeman, go for it, u will be topnotch, asp minimum, but i advise u to do ur own research as well, talk to a couple of educated policemen that u know and query the relevance of that course in the industry, over the long run, u can start ur own security consulting outfit, take awesomepal's advice tho, look for a more competent school, cheers

@Awesomepal,

Why did you say I shouldn't go to NOUN to study it?. but I think NOUN is the only school that offers that kind of course at degree level. And NOUN is the only school that offers it really.

Maybe I can now go for my masters at UI, cuz UI is offering it in masters level.

How do you feel about that?.

That is a very nice course, but you know our country. I don't think we are ready for the truth yet. See what has become of Ribadu and his EFCC achievement. If your heart is in it, you can go for it but do not bank on being relevant in this Naija.
