Nigerian Ports Authority
NPA is a governmental agency, which rules and operates all Nigerian ports. The main ports include the following:
- Lagos Complex,
- Tin Can Island Port in Lagos,
- Calabar Port,
- Delta Port,
- Rivers Port at Harcourt,
- Onne Port.
They also cooperate with Ministry of Transport and the Shippers' Council of Nigeria. Their headquarter is located in Marina, Lagos.
According to the recent news, a new Managing Director has been appointed. Ms. Hadiza Bala Usman was selected to take this position.
This woman was born in Zaria (State of Kaduna) in 1976. She is well-educated and has a B.Sc. Degree in Business Administration, which she has obtained in her native town at Ahmadu Bello University. Hadiza also has a Post Graduate in Development Studies, which she has received in the UK.
The new Managing Director started her career as a research assistant in 2000. It was in her native town in Centre for Democratic Development and Research Training.
In 2004, she was hired as Special Assistant to the Minister on Project Implementation in FCTA. In 2011, she became a Director of Strategy of Good Governance Group. In 2015, this woman received a position of Chief of Staff to the Governor of Kaduna.
Thus, Hadiza has walked a hard way to become an NPA director.
The other directors, who have taken the ruling positions, are:
- Mohammed Bello-Koko as Executive Director in Finance,
- Prof. Idris Abubakar as Executive Director in Engineering,
- Dr. Sekonte Davies as Executive Director in Marine Operations.
As Ministry of Transportation announced, all these appointments took their effect from the 11th of July.
